Mark Lawrence – Senior Structural Engineer

I first started for MWH back in 2001. Previously I had been working for a Contractor on overseas projects but I decided that I would
like to take a more design-based role and that structural engineering was the type of work I wanted to specialise in. Looking at potential companies MWH stood out, having just won UK consultant of the year. They were also advertising for structural engineers in their
Cardiff Office, which was where I applied, and ended up being based for 3 years.

I really enjoyed the time I spent there and it is a tribute to the coaching and mentoring system that MWH run, that during the three years
I spent in the UK I managed to successfully pass both my ICE and IStructE reviews.

My partner and I have always enjoyed the challenge of moving to new places and the excitement that being somewhere new brings. We had already spent three years in the Caribbean and India with my previous job but always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand. So when the opportunity arose for us to be able to relocate with MWH to their Melbourne office we grabbed it with both hands. We had no end of support from MWH, both from the UK and Australia and throughout the whole transfer process everyone was proactive and positive and went out of their way to ensure that the move was as smooth and pain free as possible.

The people are very friendly, the city and surrounding countryside is magnificent and we look forward to spending many happy years here.

Mark Rush – Mechanical Engineer

I have only recently started working for MWH, however in the past I have been in close contact with many of the UK offices whilst working for a UK equipment supplier. The last position I held was as Project/Mechanical engineer for a process/M&E contractor working in the UK. Although I had enjoyed the period working for this company, it was always a desire of mine to spend some time working abroad.
I have always been aware of MWH as a company operating within the UK water industry but was made more aware of their global presence during a year travelling in 2004. During my travels I was consciously looking for work opportunities abroad and it was during this year that I was interviewed and offered work in the MWH Melbourne Office.

Once my travels were completed, the support offered by MWH during the relocation was fantastic. The transition has been effortless, this has been aided by the fact Melbourne and the surrounding area is such a wonderful place to live. MWH as a company and my role within the company is evolving all the time, ensuring there is always a new challenge. My initial instincts suggest I could spend many more happy years here.
