MWH Constructors Selected as Construction Manager for Santa Ana River Interceptor Renovation and Relocation Project

Broomfield, Colo., March 29, 2010 – MWH, the global wet infrastructure sector leader and provider of environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting services, announced today that it has been selected by the County of Orange Board of Supervisors to provide construction management services for the $100 million Santa Ana River Interceptor (SARI) Line Renovation and Relocation Project.

Scheduled to be completed in 2012, upgrades to the SARI system will reinforce and relocate the line to accommodate recently increased capacity at the nearby Prado Dam.  In 2009, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) completed the second of three phases of the Prado Dam Modernization project, putting additional stress on the SARI system.  Relocating the lines will provide greater protection from the increased flow volume and will mitigate potential flood-related damage along the Santa Ana River.

“We are thrilled to have been selected by the Board of Supervisors to serve as construction manager for this project,” said Joe Sesil, director of construction management services for MWH Constructors.  “The project provides us with the opportunity to positively impact the Orange County community while providing safety oversight through flood protection in an environmentally sensitive area.”

This major update to the SARI system is a joint venture between the Orange County Flood Control Division and the Orange County Sanitation District.  MWH Constructors will team with local engineering and consulting firms, including RBF Consulting, GeoPentech and West Consultants, Inc.
