MWH Joins CU's Energy Initiative Leadership Council

Broomfield, November 25, 2008 - MWH, a global provider of environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting services, recently joined the University of Colorado (CU) at Boulder's Energy Initiative (EI) Leadership Council. Formed in 2006, the Energy Initiative's goal is to become an international force in solving the global energy challenge through research, education and technology commercialization. Alan Krause, President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH, will represent the company by holding the engineering, construction and management services seat.

Comprised of corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, advisers, scientists, policymakers and academics, the EI Leadership Council will advise CU's Energy Initiative on investing research funding, curriculum, and assisting in identifying qualifications of graduates for the industry in the future. With meetings scheduled three times yearly, the council will provide strategic insight in transforming CU-Boulder's EI into an international powerhouse, stimulating local clean energy economic development.

Each private sector seat provides annual contributions to CU-Boulder's EI, in tandem with a minimum two-year commitment to the council. MWH's contribution comes from the MWH Caring Foundation, a foundation established in 2003 to fund worthwhile charitable causes.  To date, MWH's Caring Foundation has donated over $470,000 USD to charitable organizations including the American Red Cross for hurricane Katrina disaster relief, and the Pakistani government in the aftermath of the massive Kashmir earthquake of 2005.

"Our involvement in this initiative will strengthen ties to the University and graduates who are trained to tackle current and future energy issues. We see the Energy Initiative as a win-win opportunity and we are honored to support this kind of research and innovation," said Krause. "Collaborating with academia is just one way to show that MWH cares about the future."
